Props to my friend, Christine DeMar, who spotted this pile of old telephones on their way to “live on a farm in the country.” (At least, that’s what the folks in Information Services told us.)

I was very surprised to learn that Woolworth’s—which first opened its doors in 1879 (1878, if you count the first, failed attempt)—is still with us, after some corporate evolution. Apparently, the key to success is to dress your employees as referees.
